Contemplative Practice: Beginning a Path of Transformation – Please visit SHOP for payment options
The ideal of “working in community” has many dimensions in Waldorf schools each, creating unique challenges. Whether working with students, parents or colleagues, committee work, out-reach, event planning or school governance, the opportunity for conflict to occur has become more prevalent. Why is that?
Rudolf Steiner has described the natural course of human evolution including our current developing state of self-awareness with its anti-social nature. Steiner shared the reality of karma, of mutual destiny coming to expression in the sphere of human relationships. Today, there is the very real danger that we will not meet at a deep enough level and miss the opportunity to help each other grow.
How can we best fulfill our social mission today? By challenging ourselves to be on a path of reflective self-development. This course is an introduction to the ideas, exercises, verses and meditations presented to us by Rudolf Steiner as a guide through the oftentimes challenging process of knowing ourselves, the spiritual world and how we might serve the world good. During this course, participants will explore spiritual transformation by working with Steiner’s text, How to Know Higher Worlds, and Gertrude Reif Hughes’ excellent handbook for working with Steiner’s meditations and exercises, More Radiant Than The Sun. Additional Steiner meditations, verses, and practices that support the life of the teacher as well as anyone working with other people mindfully will also be shared.
Marianne Fieber-Dhara will be the lead instructor with guest teachers contributing from their areas of expertise.
This course, GLWI-Fn1, is a 2-credit course required for the Certificate of Completion. It is also recommended for enrichment for adults working in leadership roles within their Waldorf schools or those who wish to deepen their ability to work socially.
