Since its first summer intensive, GLWI has maintained a partnership with Mount Mary University, Milwaukee, that affords students an opportunity to earn a fully accredited Master of Arts Degree in Education with a Waldorf Emphasis.

Mount Mary University encourages academic excellence. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The HLC is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. All institutions must meet the criteria set forth by the HLC and be evaluated every 10 years. Mount Mary’s accreditation was renewed in 2013. In addition, the university and its academic programs are approved or accredited by the State of Wisconsin.

When looking at the GLWI curriculum overview, all of the EDU courses can be taken for graduate credit and applied to the Master’s Degree. The GLWI courses are required for the Certificate of Completion, but not the Master’s Degree.  An additional 9 credits of Mount Mary University EDU courses, including the final action research project, are required for the Master’s Degree. The final project required for the Master’s Degree also counts as the final Capstone Project for the Certificate.

The Master’s Degree does not equal a State of Wisconsin Teaching License.  However, one may work with MMU to earn a Wisconsin state teaching license, requiring one more year of coursework.

Mount Mary prides itself on being a “Creative Campus.” Please visit this page for an overview of this wonderful university that is “educating students to transform the world.” MMU serves women on the undergraduate level and is co-educational at the graduate level.
