Great Lakes Waldorf Institute’s 2018 -19 courses, weekend retreats and adult enrichment events are designed to inspire, renew and challenge you. Courses may be audited for professional development and continuing education opportunities or taken to earn a Waldorf Teaching Certificate or a Master’s of Arts degree in Education from Mount Mary University with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate. Teacher preparation at Great Lakes Waldorf Institute is thoughtfully designed to challenge your preconceived notions about yourself – socially, intellectually, physically, and artistically – helping you to develop and strengthen your capacities in a supportive social and collegial environment. Our curriculum and independent classroom study with experienced teachers will assist in the development of your contemplative capacities; deepen your understanding of the whole human being as it unfolds through the critical phases of childhood; help you explore and identify pedagogical approaches and skills that will enhance your teaching; and expand your ability to work with colleagues and parents.

Planning to join us for our Summer Intensive and/or weekend workshop from a distance? Students and guests stay in a variety of places including airbnb rentals (a favorite choice).
The Wisconsin State Fair RV Park is the ONLY RV Park in Metro Milwaukee and it is open year-round! Conveniently located at Wisconsin State Fair Park, adjacent to Interstate 94, the RV Park is just minutes to Mount Mary University, Prairie Hill Waldorf School and Tamarack Waldorf School. Local Park with Campsites
Naga-Waukee, a Waukesha County Park, offers reasonable and convenient camping nestled between 2 lakes. The diverse topographical features were created during the glacial age, which enhances the beauty of the site. Camp sites are limited to 2 camping units maximum. No hookup for electric or water. Park Hours: Sunrise to 10pm (Year–Round) Daily Entrance Fee: $5. Located 5 minutes from Prairie Hill Waldorf School, it is an easy commute on I-94 to Mount Mary University or Tamarack Waldorf School. Our local universities offer Guest Housing during our Summer Intensive.
- University of Wisconsin – Kenilworth Square Apartments: Within walking distance to Tamarack Waldorf School. Reservations are accepted for stays from early June through early August. The building features 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments with a full kitchen and seating area. All sleeping rooms are furnished with twin beds, dressers, desks and chairs. Bed and bath linens and complimentary Wi-Fi are also provided. Guests will want to bring their personal toiletries. - Marquette University – Humphrey Hall: Children are welcome. Reservations are accepted for stays from early June through early August. The building’s six floors feature single, double, triple and quad occupancy suite-style rooms with private bathrooms. All sleeping rooms are furnished with twin beds, dressers, desks and chairs. Bed and bath linens, an alarm clock/radio and complimentary Wi-Fi are also provided. Guests will want to bring their personal toiletries.
