Course Overview

Coordinator: Jeff Spade

One of the most distinguishing aspects of Waldorf schools is the realization that within every human being lies the capacity to be an artist. This is made most obvious through the art of singing. From the simple melodies of early childhood, through the complex and meaningful anthems in the upper grades and in community singing, we as teachers have a powerful impact in our capacity to harmonize the soul.

You may participate in one of four levels in this class:

  • Singers: learn the songs and be a part of the fun!

  • Class/Subject Teachers: learn how to lead simple songs and rounds in class

  • Music Teachers: take a deeper dive into the art of leading singing both in the classroom and in performance

  • Instrumental Music teachers: learn best practices for instrumental programs

Come prepared to sing, to lead, and to deepen your experience of how music can be brought to life in the classroom, in faculty meetings, and in your school community. Instrumental musicians will have sessions together with instruments.
