Juan Pablo Barillas

Summer 2024 Instructor

Juan Pablo is a founding teacher of Waldorf en Español, which opened its doors in 2015. He was the leader for the foundation of the Waldorf High School from 2016 until 2020, the same year in which he became Vice-Principal for the whole school (500+ students) from Pre-K to 12th Grade.


Juan Pablo was in charge of planning, designing and implementing the curriculum for the school (Grades 3-12). He also coordinated and implemented the assessment system and linked the Waldorf Curriculum to the skills and learning objectives found in the National Curriculum to be able to run as an official school in Guatemala. He organized the five-year training program for the school’s (60+) teachers, created the exchange program for students and teachers, and the internships program and social outreach program for high school students.


Juan Pablo studied Civil Engineering at Universidad Del Valle de Guatemala and graduated as a History Teacher for High School from the same university. He has taught in middle school and high school mathematics, physics, statistics, history, and philosophy.
