Nancy Lewis

Summer 2024 Instructor

Fieldwork Coordinator

Nancy Lewis most recently taught for six years in the Early Childhood Program of Spirit of the Lake Community School (SLCS) in Duluth, MN. During that time, she graduated with an Early Childhood certification from Great Lakes Waldorf Institute. Prior to making the move to EC, she was a grades teacher at SLCS, as well as Eugene Waldorf School (EWS) and Corvallis Waldorf School (both in Oregon). She received her Waldorf grades certification from the Eugene Waldorf Teacher Training program in 2005. During her Waldorf teacher training years in Eugene, Nancy also took one year of Extra Lesson training at RSC and was a tutor and substitute teacher at EWS.

Nancy has a B.F.A. in Theater Design and Art History and a post-baccalaureate K-12 certification in Art Education from UMN in Minneapolis. Before becoming interested in Waldorf pedagogy, she taught art in public and private schools, as well as mentoring classroom teachers in an elementary art curriculum she helped developed to support bringing more art into the classroom.

She has two grown daughters who are Waldorf alumni. One of her current interests is in developing a farm- and forest-based educational program to support children in experiencing stewardship of land and animals.
