Shawn Lavoie MA

Core Faculty

Shawn Michael Lavoie is a high school humanities, world language, and performing arts teacher, residing on a small farm in the beautiful hills and valleys of southwest Wisconsin with his wife and three grade-school-aged children. He's the faculty chair and board rep at the Youth Initiative High School, his professional home since 2008.  Outside of YIHS, he's worked as a teacher trainer and workshop leader across the US, Mexico, and Guatemala.

Over the years, he's participated in numerous Waldorf trainings, earned a Master's in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and completed his undergraduate studies in Anthropology at the University of Chicago.

Shawn loves to learn and to inspire learning--some things that he's inspired to learn about: Indigenous cultures, Spanish and Portuguese, woodworking, ritual, and writing.
